Rent a car at Bologna Airport

I was a bit worried before booking because I had read some Google reviews claiming this company was a scam. However, our experience was completely the opposite.

We booked online just one day in advance, and the pickup process was quick and hassle-free. We chose the full protection option, so the only thing we had to think about was refueling the car before returning it. We received exactly the car we had booked—it was relatively new, clean, and in very good condition.

Returning the car was just as smooth and took only a few minutes. There were no unexpected charges or issues, and I even received my security deposit back on the same day.

Overall, we had a very positive experience and wouldn’t hesitate to rent from them again.

Writing a 5 star review for Italy Car Rent at Bologna airport. Now if you are like me, you are very skeptical of the "smaller" rental companies and like to stick with the typical large companies. When I researched into car rental around Bologna, I found the large companies to be far far far more expensive than some of the small. After looking at reviews at some small rental companies, it scared me because they are so terrible! But I have seen Italy Car Rent before and even though they had poor reviews like virtually ALL car rental companies, I decided to proceed (since their price was not the lowest, but far cheaper than the big guys). I was going to be extremely careful when it came to the existing damage on the car and even more careful when I returned the car in the same condition. I took a very long video of EVERY part of the car and every panel before AND after the rental period. I got the impression that this is the main issue with some companies ripping off tourists for damages. Whatever you do, DO NOT leave the parking area first and drive around the corner to take the video. As soon as you drive off the lot, it will be void and they will not use your photos/videos as proof. I also always choose NOT to purchase additional insurance as it is a complete ripoff and unnecessary for most all credit card holders. Check you credit card perks before you travel though. Anyway, after doing all the due diligence I could, the experience with Italy Car Rent in Bologna was very good. Car was new, clean and decent. Filled with gas when I returned (important to do so…don't be an idiot and return it without fuel and then complain that they charged you a bundle). The young gentleman at the airport counter was very personable and kind as was the young man looking over the car when I returned. Smooth process all in all. So don't always go by reviews when you choose a car rental. I think the score is totally skewed because nobody writes a review when they have a great experience!! They only write reviews when they have a terrible experience. Just be smart and very cautious and do everything you can to avoid a problem. The photos & videos are a must. I took about 15 minutes to complete this task before leaving the lot. Worth every penny and do not be in a rush. You will regret it. Here is another TIP: I have rented cars in Europe several times and NEVER been asked for an International Drivers Permit (I am from Canada btw). Never been a problem (even though it is the law which I didn't realize unless you are an EU resident). Most car rental companies don't care, but if you get pulled over by police, they may fine you. This time, I got stung. One car rental company (Record Go) asked for the permit and would not rent me a car without it. I had to scramble and waste a lot of time and had to proceed to Plan B which was the Italy Car Rent company back at the airport. So make sure you look into whether the car rental company will ask for that permit. I learn something new on every trip. So there you go! Hope these tips help. TIP #2: I see a lot of 1 star reviews complaining about charges for damage then saying they did not take a photo/video of the roof or some other section of the car…well guess what,..stop giving 1 star reviews and damaging a company's reputation when the person who is at fault is YOU!! You are an idiot if you don't carefully video the car before taking it out of the lot.

First class service from a good team. From start to finish the service was excellent. The low tyre pressure light on the first car that was given was on but the staff immediately offered me a replacement with no fuss or bother. The hand back was quick and efficient.

It was my first time with this company, all went well, cheap price, excellent clean car, nice staff at Bologna airport. No problems at all. This was my experience.

After reading all comments i was scared. We get almost new Peugeot 208 perfectly clean, some scratches but everything was on paper as it should be. We bought full insurance, we do this most of the time. 100 EUR warranty after two days went back to us. Totally no problems i would say it was really nice experience. People around helpful and funny. Even if i want its hard to find something that could be bad. Im shocked about all this comments because for us it was really nice. We made 1000 km in 3 days everything was perfect. People on „reception” funny helpful and chill. I will rent car here once again 100%. If You rent with Ryanair or other provider do not buy insurance at their website. Just by full insurance in kiosk on airport waaay better.

I had no issues. I purchase the insurance with booking.com in case I needed it (I didn't). It was easy to rent and had no additional charges. I did take pictures and videos before and after to be safe. The walk from the airport to the lot is long and hard to find as a heads up. We got lost.

We rented 6 days Citroen C3 diesel car around €65. The car was new and good condition with GPS. We didn't receive any problem and they returned our deposit in a short time. Daniel was very customer focused and friendly.

We had a poor experience from Surprice which made us have to Use ItalyByCar at short notice and they were everything that you’d hope for. Friendly, seemed very trustworthy and reasonable considering it was at short notice. Would use again.

I have rented a car twice at Italy Car Rent at their Bologna Airport location. It will not be the last time! Easy online booking with a very convenient option to skip the line and go directly to pick up. Swift service. Great cars. Fair prices. And a super lovely staff. I will book again next time a need a rental. Highly recommended!

This is to confirm my recent experience in dealing with Italy Car Rent at Bologna Airport. With my little experience in renting cars abroad, I needed quite extensive explanation of the rules concerning insurance and the additional drivers. The professionalism and the patience of the agent made me feel comfortable. The process of acquiring and returning the car (April 22-28) turned out to be quick easy.

Good rental car company and nice staff. Only it will take time to finish your car rental process due to lack of enough staff (I arrived at 6 pm and the queue takes around 40 minutes). Car return was very fast .

I am quite surprise to see so many bad reviews here. My experience was just opposite. I picked up car on Bologna airport, everybody there was helpful and in good mood, everything went smooth, car was in great condition. Same with return - Pisa airport. The whole “rental car experience” was just great, so seamless, and for fair price. I will rent car here again mext time.
