Rent a car at Bergamo Airport

I rented a car for a day. Price with full insuarance was around 40E. Fast and polite service. The car was above 80K and you can feel it while driving. My major remark - tank was not full. How I can return it with same level having in mind I am renting for a day and 150km? Generally OK with the company and ready to rent again from them. Not sure about the many negative comments from people totally not falimiar with the difference between direct and external insuarance...

All rental companies at Bergamo airport have bad reviews accusing them of finding damage to charge extra. I rented a Jeep Renegade for 10 days and 10 hours. Rental was 186, the zero stress insurance 385. Zero stress it was. I returned the car, the fuel and interior were checked, and I walked away to the free shuttle bus. No worrying about someone scratching it in a car park, or a stone chip on the windscreen, or losing a mirror to the umpteenth oncoming driver with 2 wheels in my lane for some unknown reason. Yes, I could have bought excess insurance but I'd have spent the holiday wondering if that scratch/dent was new, knowing I'd have to carry the charges until repaid. When it comes to responding to claims many of the excess companies get 1 star reviews too. Staff at check-in and check out were friendly and helpful.

Italy Car Rent are now my "go to" for Car Rental when flying in to Bergamo. Rossana is always extremely helpful even when my Ryanair flight is late, and I'm her last customer of the evening! The rental prices are great because the cars will have some scratches, dings and dents... Take a video around the car when collecting, and make sure you let them know by email what you've found, if it doesn't match. I've not had any hassle with Italy Car Rent, and I'm using them again next month for a week's rental at a super rate.

The price is cheaper than other companies, but it is recommended to book directly with the company's website and purchase comprehensive insurance.

So, we booked Car rental through Ryanair and Italy Car Rent was the provider. Prior to flying into Bergamo I checked all reviews of Italy Car Rent. I was very shocked and apprehensive having read most reviews of this company, however, I had already paid and also I had taken out further cover with Rentalcover, just for added peace of mind. On arriving at the Airport the Italy Car Rent desk was easy to find and had no queue. The lady at the desk was pleasant and tired to sell me their full insurance cover for an additional 300 euros, I explained this wasn’t necessary as I had additional cover with Rentalcover (this covers any excess insurance charges). Due to this I was required to place an authorisation on my credit card for 900 euros, which would be cancelled should I return the car without any damages. After which there is a free, very short bus journey to the rental car collection car park, The Italy car rent stand was easy to find and again the staff were very pleasant. I collected my keys found the vehicle without any issues. On doing so I checked the paperwork which detailed some damage to the rear bumper and on the front of the vehicle, a closer inspection of the vehicle and I found several other damages which were not recorded. Due to this, and the fact I wanted to ensue I wouldn’t be paying any additional costs for damages which were not my fault I returned back to the rental stand and spoke with a staff member who was more than happy to document these further damages. I also ensued that I took plenty of photos and a video (with commentary) of the vehicle. One thing in particular was one of the alloy wheels had a scratch line 2cm from the rim all the way round in a perfect circle and I noticed the tyre on the wheel had a different manufacture date than the other 3. This lead my to believe the tyre had been changed at some point and the garage had caused the damage either taking the tyre off or putting the new one on. Unfortunately this was not further documented by the staff, however I had plenty of pictures and a video which clearly showed this. I then drove the car off and went on my way. We had the vehicle for 2 weeks, no issues whatsoever, the vehicle even came with full android auto, no cables needed so this was ideal for maps and after our 2 week holiday I returned the vehicle with a full tank of fuel to the same car park I collected it from. On handing over the vehicle staff from Italy car rent inspected the vehicle and the alloy was noticed as this had been missed off when I collected it. I explained to staff about the car having this on collected and showed them the pictures and video, along with the date time stamp and location when and where it was taken, staff excepted this and simply asked me to email it. I was not charged any more and the 900 euros authorisation was gone off my card. All in all, I would recommend this company, and my only advise to the customer would be take plenty of pictures and a video on collection. My only feed back to Italy Car Rent would be please inspect your cars better to prevent this in future. Other than that I would have given them 5 stars.

Used at Beramo Aiport. Service was fast, friendly staff, and the total rent was very cheap - including an upgrade they offered me at a very decent cost. I saw that some other reviews were less favourable, but my experience was as good as it can be for a car rental.

I usually never write reviews, but the quality and courtesy of service was so exceptional that I wanted to point this out. The rental agent at the counter named Rosanna, in Bergamo airport, was so helpful and kind, that it basically made our day. She immediately understood what our needs were! This was a start contrast to usual rushed experience we've encountered in airport car rentals. And the quality of car was very good in relation to the price! And we are so glad we did rent a car, instead of travelling by trains/buses. We could easily visit all the amazing landmarks in close proximity, including amazing lake Garda, what a trip! Highly recommended to everyone.
